Historic Gifts of the Magi Set

Gold, frankincense and myrrh. They are the legendary Gifts of the Magi – rare items reserved only for royalty but brought out of the east by wise men to celebrate the birth of Christ. Frankincense and myrrh are fragrant resins, used by ancient Greeks and Romans for medicinal and religious purposes. And no element fires the imagination like gold.
This holiday season, National Geographic has brought these gifts together in one offering. The three Gifts of the Magi come in individual mango-wood chests, each constructed in India. The Frankincense is from Boswellia sacra trees in the Dofar region of Oman. The Myrrh is from Commiphora trees found throughout the Arabian Peninsula. Finally, there is a hand-blown glass ball with delicate flakes of 23-karat gold.

The cost is $59. The Gifts of the Magi Set makes a beautiful addition to the home – or a great gift.
