Prehistoric Aliens Coffee Table Collection by Glimpt and Peruvian Artisans

Inspired by Peru’s cultural heritage opening our eyes to what seems mysterious to our contemporary culture, the Prehistoric Aliens collection was designed by Mattias Rask and Tor Palm of Glimpt and manufactured by crafts cooperative Artesanos Don Bosco in Peru. Founded in the 1960s by a Catholic missionary priest wanting to help poor farmers in the Andes, the Italian voluntary organization called Operazione Mato Grosso (which includes Artesanos Don Bosco) educates and trains people, giving them access to a global workforce.

Glimpt decided it’s time to collaborate with this organization in the creation of modern furniture items and the first of the series is the Prehistoric Aliens collection of small coffee tables. This modern furniture series benefited from the detailed craftsmanship of Peruvian workers living in a small village named Yungay. We’ve seen collaborations like this before – remember the Medusa, Chinita and Bellota wicker lamps? – and we look forward to enjoying even more success stories like this one, where creative designers and skilled people work from their natural environment to offer modern society eye-catching objects.
