HK$1 million suit sold in Hong Kong

British Pakistani Master Tailor Arshad Mahmood has produced a suit that he claims to be one of the world’s most expensive tailor-made suits priced at $129,000.
Arshad Mahmood, who has offices in London and Hong Kong, originates from Mirpur in Azad Kashmir, Pakistan, and learnt the art of tailoring originally in the city of Karachi in early 80s.
With 22-carat gold stitching, a gold waistcoat and diamond-encrusted gold buttons, the one-off was sold in Hong Kong on May 29 for HK$1 million. According to the South China Morning Post, It took Apsley Tailors 200 hours to make the suit from the finest wool, with gold woven into the fabric.
The world’s most expensive suit is believed to have been made by Stuart Hughes and Richard Jewels of Manchester, England. The R. Jewels Diamond Edition is made from a blend of cashmere wool and silk, contains more than 480 diamonds and costs $890,000.
Apsley’s suit beats what was apparently the world’s second-most expensive suit, luxury designerAlexander Amosu’s $103,000 creation with nine diamond buttons set in 18-carat gold.

David Beckham for Belstaff

Appearing in the latest ad campaign for Belstaff, David Beckham has apparently replaced a love for football with an affection for the open road. He has an extensive motorbike collection and apparently took a ride through the Buckinghamshire countryside ahead of the shoot with photographer Peter Lindbergh. He is joined in the campaign by models Andreea Diaconu, Tom Firth, Christian Gajdus and Will Bowden. And according to WWD:
During an event in Berlin, Beckham will be named the face of Belstaff’s 2014 global advertising campaign. The company will also unveil a special Beckham for Belstaff Collection, specifics of which could not be learned at press time.
And Grazia adds:
That’s not all as it has been announced that there will also be a special Beckham for Belstaff Collection. We have no details about the line so far, but we imagine he has been taking a few tips from the lovely VB. Back at the store opening he told us: ‘I love being able to work with great brands with a lot of history and when they are British brands it’s even better.’

Rolls-Royce planning convertible Wraith

A Drophead version of Rolls-Royce’s latest sports coupe, which delighted the crowds at the Geneva Motorshow, will go into production in 2015.
Unlike the existing models in the company’s growing line-up, the Wraith is focused as much on performance as it is on out-and-out luxury, and although Rolls-Royce established itself some 107 years ago as a performance car company, it is with comfort and exclusivity rather than seat-of-the-pants driving thrills that it has come to be associated with.
Therefore, the decision to build a GT car, and compete head to head with the Bentley Continental GT, Mercedes CL, Aston Martin Rapide and even the Ferrari FF, could have been a high-risk strategy.
So far the signs are good. As well as attracting the Ferrari-owning fraternity to the Spirit of Ecstasy, theWraith looks like it will also succeed in lowering the average age of Rolls-Royce’s client base.
In terms of styling, the convertible Wraith will take design cues from the larger Phantom Drophead but will retain the sporting characteristics of the existing hardtop — therefore it will boast a 6.6-liter V12 engine that should catapult the car from standstill to 100 km/h (62mph) in a little under 5 seconds but with a suspension and damping system that will eliminate all bumps and body roll.
Also adding to this sense of well-being is the ingenious satellite-aided transmission (SAT) feature which uses GPS data to understand the road conditions ahead, beyond the driver’s vision, so that it can automatically select the correct gear and alter the suspension settings.

Louis Vuitton Townhouse At Selfridges London

Louis Vuitton elevates the experience of shop-in-shop up to three floors at Selfridges London. Louis Vuitton Townhouse is all set to throw its doors open on 8th November at one of the most sought after luxury department store in the UK.
Touted to be the largest of its kind in Europe, this new Townhouse is estimated to be about eight times the size of LV’s former Selfridges shoppe located on ground floor. Designed by Japanese-based designer Gwenaël Nicola, the colossal three storey space is interconnected by a state-of-the-art circular elevator which gently revolves inside a glass tube. This gigantic spiral structure spins slowly between the floors to offer an interesting way to experience the brand’s versatile collection.
Another highlight of the French fashion label’s latest outpost is the interactive Digital Atelier for personalization. Located on ground floor, the service will kick off as LV’s global debut allowing shoppers to experience the brand’s history, craftsmanship and products via table-mounted multi-touch screens. New collections of leather goods, accessories and travel items along with limited edition leather pieces are displayed against a backdrop of glass artwork and layered fabric walls.

Business of Fashion also reports that Louis Vuitton Townhouse is the only concession on the ground floor of Selfridges to offer seating, along with iPad-wielding sales associates offering personalization services. Also each floor of the Louis Vuitton Townhouse opens onto a corresponding department at Selfridges, allowing the space to easily interface with the rest of the store and draw in relevant consumers.
The first floor woos the male shoppers with in-house Men’s Style Director, Kim Jones’s first full collection comprising of men’s ready-to-wear, shoes and accessories.
At the top, women can indulge in ready-to-wear collection. The walls of this second floor layered with soft fabric and the interiors ooze elegance with glass artworks and an original collection of furniture.
Anne Pitcher, Managing Director of Selfridges says, ”At the heart of our collaboration with Louis Vuitton is our desire to create an entirely new customer experience and unique global destination. As you enter this London Townhouse and travel an extraordinary journey through three floors of the Oxford Street store, inspired by a completely fresh architectural approach, you will discover a comprehensive range of products across every category. This is a celebration of our long standing partnership with Louis Vuitton and our mutual desire push the boundaries of shopping beyond anything you have seen so far.”
Tom Meggle, managing director of Louis Vuitton UK and Ireland, states, “Louis Vuitton first opened in Selfridges in 2000 with two concessions offering leather goods and accessories. Over the past 13 years, the Louis Vuitton universe has grown and it was, therefore, time to give the collection in Selfridges room to breathe. We wanted to introduce our full offer of leather goods, accessories, women’s ready-to-wear and, for the first time, a full offer of our men’s ready-to-wear collection.”
The following is a schedule of events at the Townhouse -
Hot-stamping personalization on 8, 9 and 10 November -
Add a personal touch to your small leather goods, wallets or luggage tags with this complimentary hot-stamping service.
Artisan demonstrations on 12 and 13 November -
From leather dying to creasing, discover techniques from Louis Vuitton’s artisan and have a go yourself.
Art-of-packing demonstrations on 21, 22 and 23 November -
Trunk packing is a unique part of Louis Vuitton’s heritage so join us in the Townhouse to discover how to pack your luggage efficiently.
Lastly Shoe shining on the men’s floor on 12 December -
A top London shoe shiner will be in store for one day to shine shoes in the Townhouse.

Giorgio Armani dresses the Italian Olympic team

Giorgio Armani has revealed a new set of kit specially designed for his countrymen at the Sochi 2014 games. Within the past few weeks French sports-luxe brand Lacoste and American label Ralph Lauren have shown off their respective work for their national teams.
Now Giorgio Armani has struck a new two-year deal with CONI (Italian National Olympic Committee) which will see him dress all the Olympic and Paralympic athletes in his EA7 sportswear line at the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics and the Olympic Games in Rio in 2016.
Armani produced slick navy blue tracksuits and formalwear for the athletes at the London 2012 Olympics last summer, but the track and field competitors wore separate technical gear by Japanese company Asics, while the Italian sailing team wore special designs by fellow luxury label Prada.
