New Balenciaga Flagship in SoHo

“I thought back to the time of the couture salon presentations in the Cristobal Balenciaga era, when clients had the luxury of time to view fashion in a leisurely way, but with an elevated sense of ceremony. I wanted to bring a sense of permanence to the space. I wanted it to feel like it has been there for decades,” Alexander Wang on the new Balenciaga flagship in SoHo. Below are photos from the opening night event of the new Balenciaga store located on 148 Mercer Street.

It starts with an acrylic structure and 12 dedicated pastry chefs baking and assembling 5,000 gingerbread cookies. The Corinthia Hotel London will debut its 10-foot high edible Christmas tree on the day after Thanksgiving. The tree will eventually consume over 150 pounds of flour, 40 pounds of sugar, 6 pounds of cinnamon, and 180 egg yolks in addition to other ingredients. “We are spicing the biscuits really heavily to make the whole lobby smell deliciously Christmassy,” said head pastry chef Kimberly Lin-McCartney .

The tree will be decorated with shortbread stars, gingerbread men, chocolate bonbons, and edible holly leaves sprinkled in shimmer powder. The tree is part of the hotel’s Christmas lobby treats for guests, which will also include complimentary mini mince pies and mulled wine alongside chestnuts roasted in the hotel’s Courtyard.

Bordelle Capsule Collection Of Couture Lingerie Is Exclusive To Selfridges

Selfridges has gone bold by launching a bolder lingerie collection with boldest price tags. Right in time for Christmas, UK based lingerie label Bordelle has designed an exclusive capsule collection for the high end department store.

The Bordelle Capsule Collection for Selfridges not only unfolds as strong, sexy and avant-garde, but it also impresses with its robust price tags.

The most expensive piece of this fashion forward line races up to about $4,800.

Though the brand has already found fans like Lady Gaga, Shakira and Christina Aguilera with other designs, the bondage inspired collection will certainly woo all those who fantasize about Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey. Only three styles, with only three pieces of each, will be created to raise the bar of exclusivity.

Alex Popa, founder and designer of Bordelle, enlightens about the details of the collection, “The brand has been going for five years now, and we really wanted to create something really decadent this Christmas. Each piece is handmade and numbered one, two or three of three. The pieces use gold filigree, Swarovski crystals, the most luxurious fabrics – and each one takes seven to ten days to make. Completely made to order, it’s our most couture collection yet.”

He also acknowledged the support of his clients as well as Selfridges to get inspired to create such a pulse-racing, wallet-draining collection.
