Steve McQueen’s 1938 Harley-Davidson available at auction

Steve McQueen memorabilia just keeps coming. Recently the Porsche that he drove in the film Le Mans sold for $1.375 million. Now comes McQueen’s personal 1938 Harley-Davidson Motorcycle, which will be put up for auction later this month.
The bike features the original paint job, and has only 21,000 miles on it. Also, McQueen’s personal tools are included with the motorcycle. The tools were found wrapped in a piece of denim in the frame mounted tool box.
No pre-auction price has been set, but anything from the King of Cool will not come cheap.

Australia to Host Couture Exhibition

High fashion is going Down Under. The Art Gallery of South Australia said it would showcase more than 100 iconic couture outfits in an exhibition titled “Fashion Icons,” slated to open in Adelaide on Oct. 25, 2014, and run through Feb. 1, 2015.

All of the dresses are to be drawn from the archives of Les Arts Décoratifs in Paris, with its chief curator of fashion and textiles, +Pamela Golbin, heading up the showcase and industrial designer Christian Biecher creating the look of the show.

The chronological exhibition is to trace the evolution of French couture from 1947, when Christian Dior’s “New Look” ignited a splendor in the Fifties that yielded to futurism in the Sixties, emancipation in the Seventies, excess in the Eighties, and minimalism in the Nineties. Designs from +Cristobal Balenciaga, Gabrielle Chanel and +Yves Saint Laurent are among those to be showcased.

The LG 'So Real, It's Scary' Campaign Involves a Deathly Illusion

The +LG 'So Real, It's Scary' campaign involves a clever prank that will surely turn a few elevator riders' hair grey. As though inspired by the work of artist Andrew Walker, who turned an elevator ride at the Southside Shopping Centre in London into a terrifying experience, this public stunt revolves around a floor made out of the electronic company's new IPS computer monitors.

Essentially, the monitors give the realistic illusion that people were about to plummet to their untimely death because the floor tiles appear to fall away as soon as the lights flicker. Hence the tag line in the LG 'So Real, It's Scary' campaign. A scary sight, to say the least, this would be the perfect April Fool's Day prank.

Daily Dream Home: House With View of the Future

A futuristic-looking, aptly-named House With View of the Future by Simone Micheli.
The residence is located in Florence, Italy, and was designed by Simone Micheli. Behind a 20th century facade, a sci-fi-reminiscent interior design composes an intriguing mixture of new and old design lines.
As the architect describes it, the sleek white surfaces were adorned with colored structural elements: “I +designed this House as a free, flexible, sheltered place. My focus was the everyday life so I’ve worked on an hospitable space made to meet friends in an unconventional way. I tried to represent the meaning of life for me and my wife Roberta: I’ve worked on white surfaces liven up with some bright green and orange walls. This house is a metropolitan refuge made of light, where ancient and contemporary interact through colors, surfaces enhancement, and lighting design.”

Moët & Chandon Unveils The Methuselah Leopard Luxury Edition In Gilded Bottle

What +Louis Vuitton  is to the world of fashion,  Moët & Chandon is to the world of champagne. The French winery has launched the Methuselah Leopard Luxury Edition of Nectar Impérial Rosé champagne.

The six liter bottle boasts of leapord motif and keeps up with the blingastic trend to be decked with 22-carat gold leaf. Only 60 such bold gold bottles will be available to celebrate the finest moments with the finest champagne.Arthus-Bertrand
It’s not only the taste buds that need to be satisfied. Celebrations also need to be marked with haute looks too. That explains the exclusive dressing up of this $5,000 luxurious bottle. French engraver Arthus Bertrand was commissioned to handcraft each bottle with 22-carat gold leaves and a unique technique was used to achieve the striking leopard effect. Right in time for the festive season, the gilded leopard edition of the Nectar Impérial Rosé champagne will be available from 1st December at Sherry-Lehmann Wine & Spirits in New York and other exclusive nightclubs across the US.

Nectar Imperial Rose champagne reflects the diversity and complementarities of the three champagne grapes and the richness of the region’s best vineyards. It is a voluptuously gourmet expression of the Moët & Chandon style, a style distinguished by its bright fruitiness, its seductive palate and its elegant maturity. The pink color drink displays intense fruitiness of ripe berries: wild strawberry, redcurrant and blackcurrant with powerful notes of ripe yellow peach and a delectable nuance of strawberry jam. Crafted to please the senses, this rose champagne distinguishes itself by its extravagant fruitiness and delightfully crisp finish.

LG’s flexible smartphone is coming to Europe

+LG has announced that its G Flex handset will be coming to European shores in December once it has officially launched in its homeland on November 12.
The company says that Orange France will be the first network operator to start offering the phone – which curves from top to bottom and is therefore not to be confused with Samsung’s Galaxy Round, which curves from side to side — outside South Korea, and it will go on sale in time for Christmas.
So far, there’s no word on how much the device will cost early adopting Europeans but LG has confirmed that in Korea it will go on sale for 999,900 Won — that’s about €700.
Flexible display technology could prove revolutionary: if a screen can be bent in half or rolled into a cylinder, then companies will no longer be confined to building rigidly square or rectangular devices.
It would also mean that tablets could have massive 20-inch screens, but then neatly fold up to be easily carried in a handbag. That’s a vision of the future. In the present, because batteries, camera lenses, and processors are still distinctly rigid, all that’s possible are the curved handsets that LG and Samsung have just launched.
The LG G Flex uses the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor found in the +Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and LG’s own less flexible G2 flagship — so it won’t be lacking for speed or multitasking performance. It also has a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera, and a less than full HD, 720p display.
However, what it loses in resolution, it makes up for in Terminator-esque self-healing properties. Thanks to a special coating on its case, surface scratches on its sides and rear should magically disappear.
